My name is Nancy Mantelli and my background is in producing corporate videos and non-broadcast commercials. After mentoring high school students on an MTV contest, I was offered a position at West Potomac Academy teaching CTE (Career and Technical Education). CTE classes are taught by industry professionals in the field in which they have studied. Teenagers offer a totally different outlook on life and having been in the corporate world for 20 years, it is both refreshing and a little scary to hear what they have to say. Teaching them the legal ramifications of the film and video world has been my biggest challenge. Many of the students don't understand how far-reaching and global the internet is, so they tend to be too open and willing to share information with strangers. We spend a tremendous amount of time talking about how careful they have to be with posting videos. Anything uploaded to you tube must be approved by me.
