Short Session Description (one line):  Come learn how design and social justice projects can be infused into the high school physics curriculum.

Full Session Description (as long as you would like):  The traditional high school physics curriculum often focuses on topics such as mechanics, sound and light, electricity and magnetism and quantum physics.  But what if concepts such as design and social justice were infused into the curriculum?  In this presentation, We will discuss how these topics reframed their physics curriculum from a social justice perspective.  We will review the Marymount School of New York "Physics and Design: Make the World a Better Place Project" in which we develop physics-based solutions to local, regional, national or international problem.  Previous projects such as Playwater and AquafyKenya will be discussed as well as our innovations and designs from this year.  We'll also cover how we followed the design process, strategies for dealing with challenges and failure, as well as our final presentations and applications for provisional patents!
