In this session I will discuss my own “current” personal framework for developing eLeanring experiences which is constantly evolving. I hope this presentation will also be an open discussion between me and the participants. I will begin by discussing topics based on current trends and research such as:

  • online students are essentially learning alone yet they have a desire for personal connections
  • benefits of authentic learning
  • recommended types of online interaction
  • differences between inventions and innovations
  • need for adding value to eLearning experiences

Some completing technologies will be presented and/or demoed that can be included in other institutions Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Creately, Canva, Tiki-Toki, Wordle, Twitter, Flickr, Adobe Kuler, Noun Project, and Symbaloo. The LMS used to showcase an eLearning course is Instructure Canvas.

I currently work on a team of 5 instructional designer who pioneered in offering online education in 1999 with 6 graduate courses and 70 students. We now have about 550+ online courses with about 9 thousand students and regularly see 300 new students each year. As of 2014 our online students represent 50 U.S. states and 64 countries around the world. Students can currently earn 23 fully online degrees and 5 certificates. We also offer 4 undergraduate degree completion programs.

It is important to note that my opinions presented in this presentation do not represent my employer. My opinions and content are my own. This presentation was developed during my own time.
