Final Presenter Information

A HUGE and special thanks to you for presenting at the conference! Here are some final notes that you will want to keep handy during the event:

  • Please note that training information for you is here. You are responsible for learning to use the Blackboard Collaborate platform, and there is a recorded training session on that page.
  • The time of your actual presentation session(s) is listed on the schedule page for your time zone. Please double check to make sure you know when you are going to present.
  • IMPORTANT: The private page that lists the presenter/moderator links for each individual session is here. This is where you will find the link to enter your session room with the correct privileges. This page is just for presenters and moderators, so please do not share it as we do not want any participants entering session rooms as moderators. http://reinventingtheclassroom.com/page/moderator-links
  • Please go into your presentation room at least 30 minutes before your session begins to check your audio, to upload any presentation slides, and to welcome attendees.
  • We will work hard to try and have a volunteer moderator for each session, and at the very least one of the volunteer supervisors will come in and check you you before your session. If you need some help before your session and you do not have a volunteer moderator in your session, the volunteer lounge will be open during the conference and we will be glad to help you. The link to the room is http://thevolunteerlounge.meYou can keep your session room and the lounge open at the same time.
  • As a related note, we would really appreciate it if you could help to moderate some sessions when you are not presenting! It makes a huge difference to a presenter to have someone else there. You can sign up for volunteer times slots during the conference here, or just show up in the lounge and let us know you are available. We could really use as much help as you can give--so don't be shy about helping for multiple sessions!
  • Please consider the audience that attends your session as a "studio audience." Because we have so many sessions, many who will want to attend your session will have to watch the recording--so remember that your "studio" attendance only represents a portion of those who will watch and benefit from your presentation.
  • Please continue to let people know about this free conference! Thank you!

For anyone still needing to practice uploading slides, I used the private link to the room where I'm presenting. I uploaded and then found everything was out of order - it loaded slide 1, 10, 11... etc., in alphanumeric order. So I dragged my slides around to put them back in order. I then highlighted all my own slides in the navigator (shows slides in order) and clicked on Save As and saved them as whiteboard format. They load much faster, in order, and you can then add links.   Good luck, everyone!

You can upload in your room. As soon as the room is clear for five minutes the room will drop the added slides and leave only the conf room slides

Howie is ppt closed on your desktop?
Comment by Sue Bedard on April 30, 2014 at 5:16pm

Hey Howie you can only load images to the whiteboard. Take your powerpoint and export as images. Then you should be able to load them. My question for you is how can I practice the upload procedure?

I am trying to upload my slides in my room for May 1- When I clickl on Load button it said PPT not supported. Anyone have an idea what is wrong. I am in my room as a moderator- It there a permission I need?

Hi Shayne,

I am sure you have tried this but maybe this will help others. You can get a free trial of Collaborate here:

http://try.bbcollaborate.com/trial/register.go

Also, check out the resources here for everything training:

On another note, thedowngraded 3-person Blackboard Collaborate vRoom doesn't work. I registered for Collaborate when I was moderating at another conference, but would have liked to have practiced as a presenter. I posted on a discussion thread about this here but nobody has answered: http://www.wecollaborate.com/forum/topics/vroom-after-trial-has-exp...
