By associating sounds made by the body, vocal sounds, with things external to us, as we do when we use spoken language, we inform ourselves of the affects on us, (the meanings of), all the things we have words for. All we have to go on to get a sense of the meaning to us of any thing is the vocal sounds we use in order to refer to it. This sense of meaning we experience from our language is not absolute but rather specific to each different language-culture. Since our behavior is predicated upon our sense of the meaning of our world, our language-culture determines our behavior en masse.
